Love it. I got into fountain pens recently, and I recommend getting one to try out. You feel good when you write with one, which helps me get through studying. I know Santa's bringing me one this christmas!

Confession: I write in cursive exclusively.
Yeah, I'm a dick, but my handwriting is flawless.

Got a good recommendation for a entry-level fountain pen? The one on this video will set you back $550! Not ready to commit at that price-point...

I use a Pilot Metropolitan. It's got a great modern look, a very solid brass barrel and a fairly reasonable price. Highly recommended.

If you don't want to commit to anything reusable, the Pilot Varsity is a great disposable fountain pen that you can find at most craft and office supply stores.

I love nice pens. I wish I could get a nice one to take to work, but I suspect it would disappear fairly quickly. That being said, I don't get the love for fountain pens. A friend of mine used to use them exclusively and I tried writing with them a few times. They're too...scratchy, I guess would be a way to describe it. Give me a good heavy pen with a decent-sized black or dark purple barrel, black ink, and I will be a happy little gnome for many days to come.

My first one was a Lamy Safari with an Extra Fine nib. I liked the idea of something that I could use for a long time, so I didn't want anything disposable. It's light, durable, has replaceable nibs so you can have a couple of them without buying a whole new pen. The pens run about $20-25 on amazon and come in lots of colors and nib sizes. The finer ones are great starters because they work well on pretty much any kind of paper. You can either use proprietary cartridges to refill the ink or buy a little converter that allows you to use bottled ink, where the sky's the limit.
Either the Safari or the Metropolitan are great starter pens. I picked the Safari because it was what piqued my interest and I liked the look of it a bit more.

I can't put my finger on it, but for some reason I love the sound of that pen on paper.
